Who are you when nobody is looking?

A few months ago, I was deep in meditation when it hit me:

I haven’t been treating myself well.

I’ve been eating whatever, even while knowing how much dairy and bread slow me down (and how much green juice and veggies lift me up).

I’ve been hitting snooze on my alarm for a “meditation” lying down for 8 minutes, even while knowing that I feel best with at least 20 minutes and that meditation is not nearly as meaningful for me when I’m resting in bed.

Maybe some small part of me justified all of this because I thought, “I’m the only one who would notice.”

It’s the lie we tell ourselves that it doesn’t matter if no one else sees when actually those are the things that matter the most.

I heard this saying the other day that I love:

By small and simple things, great things come to pass.

And in my meditation, it struck me so clearly that this feeling I was having that business was moving slowly or tediously was actually a reflection of how I was doing the small and simple things. I was blocking great things through the way I was doing the smallest of things, the things I do every day.

And those things turn out not to be so small.

The food I eat determines the amount of energy I have, the quality of my thoughts, literally contributing in a big way to the energetic vibration that I put out in the world. And my meditation is a part of my physical, emotional and mental health not to mention my spiritual connection.

This is the foundation of well…everything. And it was so easy to convince myself otherwise.

Take a moment to reflect in your own life, how do you treat yourself when no one else is looking?

Your answer shows the truth of the quality of relationship you’re having with yourself.

And that relationship, it turns out, is the greatest predictor of whether and how you’re living in your greatness because it is literally the frame through which you experience life.

The Big Move

Several years ago I felt this inner pull ~ it’s time to leave Los Angeles.

But move where?

After 18 years of a love affair with my city, it would have to be somewhere quite special.

You know that feeling where inner guidance arises but there’s still a part of you

that isn’t ready for the change?

Fast forward to summer 2022, I’m at a mini-Burning Man-esq event where 100 people from across the nation are all gathered to contribute to the experience. I soon learn that about half of the people are from the same community and for the first time, I have an experience of how powerful living in that community could be.

And now today, after a lot of visiting and soulful considerations, I have a new home there and next week we are packing up to move to…Austin, Texas.

This is not what I ever expected

Much like life goes when you follow my inner guidance, I would never have dreamed in a million years that I would move to Texas.

That’s the beauty of taking the leap into something that doesn’t always make sense but feels so right.

And it doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Letting go can be hard

Even today I’m noticing it’s hard to let go of my life here in Los Angeles.

I’m sure you’ve had your own version of this. Where have you experienced the pain of letting go?

It should be easier, after so much letting go ~ my marriage, multiple relationships since then, my law firm, even my birth name ~ and yet, there’s still a real sadness about leaving.

Because there can be sorrow and pain in letting go, this is one of the areas I see women get stuck, even women who have experienced letting go in the past.

At this new level, they become afraid of experiencing sorrow or pain and instead of noticing the fear and allowing themselves to feel, they hold onto something that’s no longer aligned.

I know from personal experience and from working with women around the world, sometimes it feels easier or more safe to hold on, even when you know in your heart of hearts that thing or relationship or location is no longer for your highest good. Or you feel stuck in one area of your life and don’t realize there’s more you need to let go.

It’s in letting go that the new can come in.

So a mantra I love that I wanted to share with you today is:

It’s safe to let go.

It’s something I use often to support myself in stepping into the unknown. I use it to remind me that with myself, I am always safe. And that life is here for me.

When you allow yourself to let go and walk into the unknown, life always delivers an even greater experience on the other side.
I would love to know if this mantra resonates with you – Safe to Let Go Mantra.

A Unique Perspective On The Truth About Women

Don’t do it, you’ll be making a huge mistake.”

This is my beloved mentor’s warning when I share that I’m planning to leave my job at one of the world’s largest law firms to build my own.

Despite the chorus of caution from pretty much everyone close to me, I have to make this change.

Have you ever felt that you were on the right path even though it didn’t make logical sense?

Leaving my $250,000 salary is scary, but I think to myself, “how hard can it be?”

Six months later, I’ve been working hard. And…I’ve only made $12,000.

The fear of failure is taking over. What if I can’t cover my expenses? What if everyone discovers that this bet on myself isn’t paying off?

How coaching changed my life

Searching for help, a spontaneous decision to fly across the country for a quarterly meeting of entrepreneurial lawyers is a huge turning point.

I learn how to grow my business and start incorporating coaching into my practice. Mindset, profitability, team building, strategy, and so much more become integrated into my services. It’s an innovative model, and my law firm is thriving.

Several years later, I create a separate coaching company as I continue to practice law. Hundreds of clients benefit from my coaching, I’ve generated millions of dollars in revenue between both businesses, and by the time I sell my law firm in 2018, a new mission begins to bubble within me: I am meant to support women.

You know those inspirations you get that don’t even fit into your life as it exists now?

Why I understand women on the deepest levels

For me, this is a puzzling calling at first. Besides my small circle, most of my interactions with women have been distant, full of competition or just challenging.

But a deep introspection reveals why. I have not been honoring myself, and this lack of self-respect and understanding has been reflected in my relationships with women.

Through this introspection and healing (with a lot of support), I develop a profound love and compassion for myself, which also becomes a profound love and appreciation for other women.

Now, as I stand here almost five years later, it’s easy to see that every step, every stumble, and every growth edge has shaped my purpose and brought me to this place.

I am here to guide women, to inspire them, to support them in discovering and fully aligning with their potential.

We women are quite extraordinary. Our passion for the ones we love, the selfless choices, our soft bodies, the ways we dedicate ourselves, our capacity to communicate and build community, and so much more…And yet, most women don’t see this about themselves.

We as women also have an innate power that is nothing like what we’ve been taught is power. (Think big fist in the air versus emanating the energy of power from within.)

We have this inner guidance that is infinitely more powerful than any business strategy could ever be.

And yet, most women have been taught that their truest powers are actually weaknesses.

In truth, we can only see the truth of ourselves & live in our true power and potential when we are feeling good on the inside as our consistent way of being.

My life’s work is in service of supporting women in stepping into this clarity, this Knowing about themselves, as they walk the highest path in their lives.

Would love for you to share your thoughts on what kind of content you want from me.

I look forward to being your guide!

Our next level women’s retreat

(*We don’t usually post videos or photos from retreats because everything that happens is a surprise or confidential…but this was a one-time retreat and a perfect moment for sharing.)

What you don’t see in the video is how we used this unique experience to explore letting go of control, receiving even more, creating together with a group of powerful women (who are all used to being in charge and who are quite good at it) and more.

Some moments were connected and heart-opening and some moments were challenging but all moments were in service of deepening each woman’s awareness of how she is showing up in life and business (and where that is contributing to her success or slowing her down), shifts for her next evolution, and deepening intimacy with those she loves.

This is a clip of a very special moment with a very special group of women. It is such a pleasure to be on this journey with each of you!

Beyond The Edge

– an experience shared by one of our clients last week following the 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵.

The retreat is interesting to explain because communicating the experience in words is already limiting. It’s designed to put you into a highly open state, where you rewire old programs with ease and create what you truly desire. It’s a true peak experience.

Another client says: “𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.”

When women leave the retreat, they look like different people. This is one of the effects of facing yourself with a loving guide and emerging on the other side with a new level of clarity and self-love.

*Your skin changes.
*Your facial expressions change.
*You shift from inside out, and it shows.

As one woman shared, “𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞-𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠.”

To the women who’ve walked with me Beyond The Edge – thank you for sharing this exquisite journey with me.

Women On Their Purpose

Being aligned with your purpose could mean being the best mom you can be and being present with your kids.

Or, relishing the moment with your partner, really being present with them, and letting everything else fall away.

Or, in your business – creating with love and awareness of the impact you’re making in the moment as you move through the “to-dos” of your day.

This is how I imagine a world where every woman is present with her deeper purpose, moment-to-moment.

But it starts with you and me. Embodying the fulfillment that is always available in this present moment while we also, continuously align with our highest purpose in this lifetime. <3

My Beyond The Edge retreat, where we retreat from the rest of the world to do this very important growth – coming into complete alignment from within, and bringing purpose and intention to life and business.
